Sorting a sub form causes new record row to dissappear

I have a strange problem - when I sort a subform (which is a datasheet style), the new record row at the bottom disappears. The only way to bring it back is to right click the subform and chose Remove Filter. My subform is based on a query. Does anyone suggest a workaround
