sorting alphanumeric characters

I use macros to insert terms and their abbreviations in a document that consists wholly of one two-column table. After I add a new pair, I want the table sorted alphanumerically in ascending sortorder. It works fine, but something weird happens when I insert the numerical '1' as abbreviation for 'one'. The first time that I sort the new pair will end up in the first row of the table. However if I sort the table a second time, the pair ends up in the last row, and vice versa

Every time I sort the table this one pair swaps from first to last row and back

Is there something I do wrong, something I leave out
I hope some one knows an answer

Thank you
Jan
