Sorting by date

How do I format cells and input dates into those cells to allow me to sort by date accurately? I'm painfully ignorant and frustrated. If you could help,....

I already gave you a possible answer yesterday, if the dates don't sort by
year, month and day they must be text,
so make sure your dates are numeric. Then they will sort by date if you sort
ascending the earliest date will sort first etc..
However if they are text they will sort after what is the first number so a
date like 01/01/2003 will sort before 12/31/1965
Try to copy an empty cell, select the dates, then do edit>paste special and
select add.. And stay in the same thread!
