I have been trying to find a way to sort my contacts first by category and then in alphabetical order within the category.

Is there any way to do this?

Click on the column for the names first, then the one for the categories. It
should yield the result you want.

Remove "NoSpam" to e-mail me - Retirez "NoSpam" pour m'crire

that doesn't seem to work - it just resorts them into their categories, all the names are jumbled up[/QUOTE]

Recently my cel phone had virus, when I sincronized the cel phone with my entourage I had with 2 lists of contacts, one after the other, and I can't sort in just one list.

How can I do that?

What do you mean 2 lists?? You mean one "on my computer" and the other one
for an exchange account for isntance??

You can create a custom list/filter for one of the list, then select all the
items and move them to the other list.

If you are talking about duplications within the same address book, it's a
completely different story. You can google the issue and find AppleScripts to
help you sort the mess.

Corentin,
It works if you choose an Address Book View a particular category, but it doesn't seem to be able to do by category and then alphabetically when in the whole address book.

Have you managed to do it?

I used to be able to do it. The first sort order was preserved when you did
the second one.
I just re-tried iin Office 2008 and indeed, the alphabetic sort order for
contacts gets screwed up when you then sort by category :-\
No workaround that I can think of :-\

Sounds like time to "Send Feedback ..."

Another reason to stick with E 2004!
