Sorting is not working properly

A column with some upper case names and some lower case
names are sorting as if I've selected the case sensitive
option in the sort options box, but I haven't. I checked
the cell format and some were General and some were Text.
I've changed the entire sheet to both and still the
uppercase words stick together and the lowercase words
stick together. However, when I click in another column
that has uppercase and lowercase words it sorts them
correctly by alphabet and ignores the case. I've also
tried to copy and paste the data into a new sheet/book,
but to no avail.

I solved my own problem. After looking at this for a few
minutes I realized that all of the lower case names had
leading spaces.
