I used to be able to sort my contact when selecting names
for an email, but that fuction is no longer available. How
can I change my settings to get the tools back?

Come on. At least get us started. We can't read minds. Sort them where and
in what version of Outlook? What happened just after "used to?"

Yes, thanks! its outlook 2000 SP-3. When creating an email
message, if you click on the address book icon next to
the "To:" line, another small window appears with the
contacts in it. This window "used to" be dislayed as
a "detailed" window whereby one could click above the
different fields (i.e., name) and sort that column. Now
the window does not display the sorting colomn function.
The other day I changed the outlook settings to corporate
email because i have to interface with another vendor's
database software program. Since I made this change, the
address selection woindow is changed. I need to be able to
interface with the other program, but can't find the place
to cahnge the address window options. I bet you know how.

There is no such option. When you were using IMO mode you were actually
using the Windows Address Book. It has that option. With Corp/Workgroup mode
you are now using the Outlook Address Book. It has no such option. To sort
the Outlook Address Book in C/W:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties > Set sort order
