Sorting picture data

Could someone let me know haw to sort pictures and data associated with it ? I am putting my photo in the first cel of the row and reference and description in the rest of the row. Next row is looks the same picture and ref. and so on. The problem is I cannot sort the reference and pictures together. When I am using ascending or descending data sort only reference and description changes places but pictures are not moving a long. Thank you Stanislav

Excel doesn't store pictures or other objects in cells - even though that
may be what it looks like if you adjust the cell size to accommodate the
dimensions of the picture. Objects are stored in a separate "layer".

You'd be better off to do this in a Word Table where you *can* insert the
pictures into cells then sort the rows on the basis of as many as 3 columns.

Following on with this thread, has Excel changed this from 2004? I too had data and pics which sorted in the previous version.

I have exactly this same problem - using Excel as a simple database, I have a spreadsheet with maybe 1000 records in it and one of the fields is a picture. The moment I sort the pictures are no longer on the correct records. Can Microsoft possibly fix this? A picture is just another kind of data, and it should be storable in a cell. Word is not really the right tool for this job.

In Excel's edit preferences make sure cut, copy and sort objects with cells
is checked.
