Sorting / Protected Worksheets

Kevan,

Depending on the version of Excel you're using (2K or XP
work for the explanation i'm describing), you can tell it
not to bother protecting the cells for sorting. just make
sure it's unchecked and you should be okay. if you're
using 97 i don't think you have that option.

It's Excel 2000... You say "just make sure it's
unchecked." Where is that check box located? (Thanks for
your reply.)

When you go to Tools > Protection and initially protect
the sheet you should have a pop up that lets you choose
exactly what to protect in those cells be it; inserting,
deleting rows, modifying row/column heights, and most
importantly, sorting. i skipped 2K and went right from 97
to XP, so i don't know for sure if you see it in 2K.
