In a column that has blanks and text, how can I make the blank entries appear
before the text entries.?

Sorting ascending or descending leaves the text entries always at the
beginning. Entering a space works but that would affect formulas already
written.

The only way I know of to do this is by hand or macro. You can search
the Excel archives for several different types of macro, depending on
what you're looking for:
