Sorting Rows by number in column F

M

Michelle Hillard

Hi guys, I have a range from A4 to H1000
The heading is A1 to H4 and I dont want to sort this (always here).
Depending on the value of column F (a number), I want the rows to be sorted
ascendingly based on column Fs value.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated thank you.

If I understand correctly, you want to sort your data from row 5
downwards on column F.

In this case, all you need to do is select the data
(Ctrl+Shift+Right/Ctrl+Shift+Down arrow) you want sorted and use
Data/Sort in the usual way except choose "No header row" and "COLUMN
F".

What problem are you having when you try to sort? If the heading rows
are formatted differently than the data row, Excel should be able to
detect the headings automatically.

Select the last row of headings, and all of the data, then choose
Data>Sort.
Choose to Sort by column F, and select 'Header row' under 'My list has'.
Click OK.

To make the sorting easier, you could insert a blank row above the last
row of headings. Hide the new row.
To select the table, and the last row of headings, select a cell in the
table, and press Ctrl+* (use the * on the number keypad)
