Sorting sales by month, by year

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a formula that will take the sum the values of sales
by customer in the spreadsheet attached. I am needing column F in the
'result' tab to total the sales dollars by customer, by month, by year.


I have placed a 'data' tab showing how the data is dumped and I have
inserted a 'result' tab that shows what I am looking for. The original
data tab is 23,000 rows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Based upon your description and the data in the
attachment, it looks like your data is perfect for using a
pivot table. It will accomplish everything you need.

Thanks Eric. I do not have much experience with a pivot table.....but I
will read up.
