Sorting, Tables, API

Hi,

Is there any way to alphabetically sort a list of items in ON? If not, is
this the sort of functionality a third-party developer would be able to add
using the API?

Is there any way to create simple tables without using ink?

Thanks!

You can only sort items manually (i.e. by manually dragging them or
retyping them). If it's a long list, you can copy the list into Excel,
use the Data | Sort menu to sort the list then copy and paste back into
OneNote.

The API that is introduced in SP1 is for importing data only. I suppose
one could write an application that can take data from the clipboard,
sort it and then reimport it back into OneNote, but it wouldn't be as
complete or as user friendly as you're describing.

Whoops; I hit "Send" before getting to your other question.

Can you clarify what you mean be making tables with Ink? There are
outlining and pseudo-table-making formatting tools in OneNote that allow
you to simulate a table structure (albeit not as easily or as flexible as
the tools in Word, etc. are).

There is no way to format the borders of the "tables" in OneNote. If
you're using your Tablet pen to draw rectangles and lines to simulate the
borders of a table, you can achieve a similar effect by creating and
importing pictures of various blank tables and using them. I keep a
section in my "My Notebook" that has various graphics of tables of
different sizes that I can quickly copy and paste. The downside is that
you cannot resize the table graphic nor can you add columns and rows.
