Sorting with Graphics

I am trying to assist a friend with a huge art exhibit. She has put
over 200 pieces into a worksheet, but would like to sort in several
ways. However, upon performing the sort, the pictures do not stay
inline with the text they belong to. It is as if they "pile up" on
each other. I have tried everything that I could think of and
searched for answers, but to no avail. Any suggestions? I would
think this a simple fix. I am using XP, Excel 2002.

Thanks!
Joyce

You should be using a database program like Microsoft Access. In Excel,
graphics are only for decoration; they do not attach to cells like you want
them to.

There is a position property (Form object, properties) 'Move but don't
size with cells', but it isn't very reliable i.e. you get the behavior
you describe. To get the expected behavior, I put my pictures inside
Image controls, from the Controls toolbar, and use a value of 2
(default) for the Placement property. An Image control is a much more
versatile object anyhow, you see. However, it would take some work to
retro fit 200 pictures into Image controls and reposition them (you
could write a macro...)
