Sorting within a page

I have a long list of recipes on a page that I have hyperlinked to the actual
recipes in one note. I have catagorized them by food type, ie. Desserts,
Breads, Salads, etc...

My question "is there a way to sort lists within a page alphabetically other
than manually?

No, there is no such feature in ON.
And there are PowerToys only for sorting sections and pages.

A workaround would be export the list to Word or Excel (Copy & Paste),
sort things there and then re-import the stuff.
