I have created several categories to organize my thousands of contacts. I
have traditionally created arrangements to arrange by category to enable me
to quickly find a contact. My normal action was to go into a grouping
(category) and then hit the column by which I want to sort to find the column
information. Sometimes that could be company, file as, full name, etc. By
hitting the column header, the contacts would be sorted within the current
arrangement (keeping the groupings) In older versions of Outlook, this
sorting worked. In Outlook 2003, it completely changes the arrangement and
removes the arrange by completely and just simply sorts all the contacts by
the header column selected.
I looked into help and I believe Outlook 2003 is not performing as the help
defines - see quoted text from help file.
"If you are using single-line layout, the field by which the table is sorted
(if the field is included in the current view) will be indicated by an arrow
in the field column heading (column heading: The horizontal bar at the top of
one column in a table. There are multiple column headings in the column
heading row.). To change the sort order based on the current arrangement,
click the column heading."
I am using the professional version of 2003. Any help or assistance would
be greatly appreciated.
