Sorting withing Excel

I am attempting to sort a column and it contains numerics
seperated by two spaces. Most numbers sort correctly but
anything that begins with 16 (ie: 16 01) does not sort
properly. I have checked coulmn formatting, repeatedly
deleted and readded the entries, sorted other columns and
attempted to resort by the column discussed.

Am I dealing with a protected number or any other
suggestions.

Hi Joe,
Excel sorts by the ASCII value, left to right.
So...
1 6 0 1
49 54 32 48 49 is what Excel sees.

If you want something else post some sample data and how you want it to
sort.
