Sorting

I have an unsorted column of text in A that comes from a
web query. I want to sort it into ascending order in
column B using a formula. I don't want to use the sort
command on the menu.

I know I can do this easily with numbers using small/large
functions, and have thought about taking the first few
ascii values of each cell and multiplying each character
value by 1,2,4,8 etc depending on their position within
the text, but surely there is an easier way?

Any help appreciated
