PS again Roady:
OK, I did not change a thing. Now it decided to work ok all by itself.
One
of those computer mysteries?
Thanks for your help. I really
appreciate this helpful forum.

There is a gold square box there with a circle inside, I guess like a
clock.
It does not look really like an envelope. When I right click it, there
is a
check mark next to show new mail desktop alert. Marian
:
Do you get the New Mail Desktop Alert when you get a new e-mail?
Verify that
it is turned on by rightclicking the Outlook icon in the Notification
Area.
Also if you see a < on the left border of the Notification Area press
it to
expand it. Do you see the new mail envelope?

PS -- I do not think I have any special rules set up for the messages
to go
anywhere other than the inbox. It is a home computer and not on any

Hello,
I am not getting any notification when a new outlook message
arrives.
I
have it set to play a sound. Other sounds on the computer are
working.
Also,
I thought there was supposed to be an envelope on the toolbar for
new
mail,
and there is not. Thanks for any help.
