Sound doesn't match slides when saved as movie

I have a Powerpoint 2004 Mac slideshow that has timed slides and an audio
file on the first slide which is set to play for the entire file. The music
is timed perfectly with the slide show and the show plays perfectly in
Powerpoint. Now, I want to make a movie of this slide show. When I use
<Make movie> in powerpoint, the resulting movie plays the audio for the first
slide only holding on the first slide, then proceeds to the remaining slides.
Clearly, it does not recognize that I have set the audio file option to play
for all of the slides.

Hi Tim,

This problem has been posted recently in the newsgroups. For the time being
the work-around I have been suggesting is to use Impatica
http://www.impatica.com/imp4ppt/

Thank you. I checked out impatica and it looked great, but a little spendy.
I found a way around it: if you remove the PowerPoint audio file, the slide
times are now correct in Quicktime. By upgrading to Quicktime Pro, one can
insert the audio file on the Quicktime side of things. Something with
converting the audio from PP to QT is screwy, so now I'm just adding it in
afterwards.

Thanks again!

Hi Tim,

Thank you for posting your comments and your suggestion using QuickTime Pro.

Once you have a QuickTime file you can also enhance it in iMovie and use
iDVD if you want to make a DVD of it.
