sound files stop slide transitions in powerpoint

When I insert a sound file (.wav or mp3) into my first slide, it stops the
slide transition to slide #2. I have set the sound to play for four slides
on the effect menu, but the slide will not change until the sound has played
completely (It's a 4+ minute song). I can call the second slide by hitting
Enter twice, but I would like to automate the presentation. How can I force
slide transition at a certain time?
