Sound gallery keeps crashing

I'm running PowerPoint 2004 on 10.3.9 and every time I try to insert a
sound file, the gallery crashes. I don't have this problem with
PowerPoint v.X. Could I have corrupt file somewhere that is causing
the crash? Any suggestions?

Hi,

Yes, this is a known issue. Some sound files from older versions of
office will cause this problem.

Thanks for the heads up. The sound files are new. They were installed
with PowerPoint 2004. Should I delete both v.X and 2004 and then
reinstall 2004 only? Is there a patch I could download?

If the sound files were installed with Office 2004 then they should work
fine.

Start with some simple troubleshooting steps, such as repairing permissions:
