Sound icon

When I insert sound from file on a slide I get the Sound Icon (Speaker) right in the middle of the slide. I can't imagine that the Icon has to appear there. When I clear the Icon, the sound is no longer inserted. How do I get rid of the Icon but retain the sound?

Also, is there a way to have a sound play for the duration of the side show as opposed to attaching it to an individual slide only? And can I have a sound play for example for the first three slides and then change sound for the fourth?

Hi,

The sound icon can be dragged off the visible portion of the slide and
it will still play - as long as you give it an entrance custom animation
or if you told the sound to play automatically when the slide appears.

If you drag it off to the side and it is set to play when clicked, well
obviously you won't be able to click it if you don't see it.

You don't have to use the default icon. You can right-click (or
control=click) on most objects and choose Action Settings > Play Sound.
At the bottom of the list of canned sounds there's an option to play
any sound from a file. So if you find the sound icon ugly but still want
to have a sound wait till you click on something, this is the way to go.

Jim,

Thanks for the reply and info. I checked out some of the info and it seems it all oriented towards a Windows based product, with all the files being .exe. My Mac PP (version 2004 v 11.3.5 ) doesn't appear to be referenced anywhere. Is there any Mac specific info available? I should add that I am 70+ years old and somewhat less than a wizard with these things.

Although it can make it hard to locate later you can also
Control/Right-Click the Speaker icon, select Format Picture - Colors &
Lines, then set the Color to 100% Transparent.
