Sound Mystery

S

Stumped

My partner and I are developing a website from two different computers in
two separate offices.

I'm developing at the host and so when I save a change, the change is
refected on line immediately. She is developing the site on the hard drive
first and then publishing to the host.

Each of the pages has sound associated with them. One page has emerged as a
serious mystery.

The sound on the page plays just fine when I test the page in preview AND
when I go to the page on the internet as a visitor would to the site.

The Sound WILL NOT play on her system on the hard drive, when she goes into
"develop at the host" mode OR when she visits the site on the internet as a
visitor would.

However she can hear the music on all of the other pages.

Strange huh?

I'd be happy to do that if it made an sense. However, as I indicated in my
email, when I go to the website with my computer, all the pages play
including the only one that won't play for her. Therefore, the problem is
not at the host or on the internet. The problem is a peculiar one between
her computer and this one particular page.

Well, then send Steve her PC.

The car doesn't work when I drive it, but it does when my wife drives. Why
is that?
That is essentially how you've presented your problem. How could anyone
possibly know what is wrong?

the reason he wants to see it is because it's most likely something wrong
with the code.
here's probably what's happening;
your friend's computer system (confluence of OS, hardware, and browser) is
reacting negatively to a code irregularity, your computer is more forgiving.
Steve is probably figuring that if he saw the page he would be able to look
at the source code and identify the problem (even if he didn't have his
speakers turned on).
That's why it's important to post a link to a page especially with a problem
like this.

Well, after letting the crystal ball recharge overnight, I see two possibilities.
1. The page that has the issue is using a media file format that isn't registered in media
player, assuming that it is media player that ignores the file. The solution is to open
media player in full screen mode, click Tools > Options > File types and make sure that
the file type is checked so that media player will play it.

2. There's an issue with the html in the page. However I just can't seem to get the
crystal ball to display the html.
I even switched it to Obi Wan Kanobe mode and it still wouldn't work.

A link to the page would help.
