Sound notification

Can someone please tell me why is the sound notification on my Entourage not
working? I have been to the Preferences - Notification area to test the
sound and even clicking on the sound icon doesn't help.

How and what can I do to remedy this?

Sounds are broken in 12.0.0. You need to update. There are some gotchas you
need to be aware of.

1) MAU must be updated before it will see any of the Office updates.
2) A Leopard security update causes the updater fail safe to quit all
applications to fail, resulting in a bad update.
3) You must restart after each update.
4) If you have modified your system with Monolingual or Xslimmer for
example, your update will fail.

So, does this mean I'll have to re-install Office 2008 from DVD?

What will happen to all my info on Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Entourage
that's currently on my computer?

No, it means you need to update. Your data is not touched when you update.
