Sound Played on New Item

I'm not sure what happened exactly, but something I installed messed up a
number of settings on my workstation.

I have selected "Play a sound" when a new item arrives. The sound comes
throught the PC Speaker. How do I specify the sound played when new items
arrive or redirect it to the sound card?

You can specify the sound in (for Windows XP);
Control Panel-> Sounds and Audio Devices-> tab Sounds-> sound New Mail Alert

Ah ha, now I see the root of the problem. Something I installed (on W2K)
had changed my email notification to Windows XP Notify which doesn't reside
on my workstation.

Issue resolved.
