This is the quick version of how to solve the problem I posed in the
message thread with the subject "Sound".
The problem:
Create a .ppt slide show from photos. Add voice, text, and other
features to individual slides. Add an overall background music track to
the entire slide show that allows the voice additions on the individual
slides to be voice-overs. Export to .mov format and burn to a DVD for
viewing on a TV as a movie.
When the export is made to .mov it does not support the overall
background soundtrack.
Several people offerred suggestions that helped lead me to this simple,
inexpensive and effective solution and I thank them for their help!
Snapz Pro 2 required a drastic reduction in quality to even get close
to working on my G4 466 because of the huge data handling requirement
involved in capturing frames from the screen. In the following solution
I was able to have as high a quality as I desired including 30 fps and
high resolution photos.
The solution:
Create the slide show in PowerPoint with all features included as
desired in each individual slide. Be sure the features are imbedded,
not linked. Export the slide show from PowerPoint in .mov format.
Open the slide show in QuickTime Pro 7 which is available from Apple
for $29.95. Add the desired overall sound track following the
instructions in QuickTime Pro 7 Help. QuickTime Pro 7 has a very large
selection of movie formatting options and allows certain adjustments to
audio tracks as well.
If you want to do some interesting tinkering with sound and sound
tracks and have Toast Titanium 6 there is an included application
called CD Spin Doctor which is somewhat limited in scope but still is
easy to use and very helpful.
Thanks again for all of the help and suggestions!
