SoundRec Objects?

G

goldenretriever123

When I open a Word document with sound files in them (the speaker
icons) and I double click one, a message comes up that says, "Word
cannot locate the server application for SoundRec objects." So I
right-clicked on one of them and clicked Wave Sound Object>Convert...
and chose "Convert to... Wave Object" and it said, "The server
application, source file, or item cannot be found. Make sure the
application is properly installed, and that it has not been deleted,
moved, or renamed." I haven't messed with any Word files and I have the
newest version, Version 11.2 (060202), so I was wondering if there was
something I could install or do to fix my problem.

Thanks!

Who? With what?

I believe the help you most urgently need is with your self-centredness
issue. To assist you with that, I suggest you conduct the following mental
exercise:

1) Consider who you are

2) Understand that we are NOT you

3) Achieve a realisation that we cannot read: your screen, your mind, or
your gestures from here.

4) Consider what information YOU would need, to be able to answer your
question, if we were to ask you the question you just asked us.

Right at the moment, the only information we have from you is that you
appear to be extremely arrogant, and perhaps equally stupid.

Have a nice day, now...

Please help!!

Hi -

I'm not very familiar with SoundRec files beyond the fact that it is a
PC platform sound file format which may not be readily recognized by
Mac audio apps. That's why you're getting the message... it isn't a
*Word* file & Word/OS X don't know what to do with it.

What you might try is dragging one of those files from the Word doc to
the Desktop to create a copy of it there. Ctrl+Click the new copy &
select Get Info, set the "Open With" to iTunes, QuickTime Player, etc.
& click the Change All button. (You might want to opent the sound file
from within your preferred audio app - use File>Open - before assigning
it in Get Info to make sure it works.)

Yeah, right... I got his sad little messages at work.

The poor wee fellow can't understand: his original question is in Google.
It never made it onto the News Server from which we're all trying to read.
It's not here to be read :)

A concept that seems to completely baffle our angry little man...
