same thing happened here

By using Word as editor, I followed the instruction to add sound via the
Web
Tools, but when I click on the icon for sound - I get the error message -

This object was created in HTMLInlineSoundCtl.
This application is not available to open this object.
Make sure the application is properly installed and that
it has not been deleted, moved, or renamed.

How to I resolve? (ditto on several other icons on the web tool bar)

I just downloaded the sounds for word as editor and the sounds work both in
Word 2003 and Outlook 2003. I have Office2003 Pro installed with Service
Pack 1. By the way, My computer is 4 years old. 384MB RAM, 1.7GH Pentium 4
Processor, Ge-Force 2 Ultra NVIDIA card 800 bus system.

This problem isn't about using the sounds pack with outlook. it is about
embedding a sound in an Outlook 2003 email message.

Bill look to the first message as to this problem. He states,"By using Word
as editor, I followed the instruction to add sound via the Web Tools, but
when I click on the icon for sound - I get the error message -"

So it would seem that your reply about adding sounds to embedded messages
was inaccurate. He mentioned clicking on an Icon on the web tool bar to hear
the sounds and getting the error messages. No where did he mention his
trying to embed sounds in in an Outlook e-mail message.

that is exactly what he is trying to do! That's what "Web tools" (the Web
Tools toolbar) does! This is a *known* problem that produces exactly the
error that has been mentioned and knowledge of the problem comes from
experience and contact with MSFT about the issue.

The issue you mentioned has not occurred with my computer, nor with my use
of Outlook 2003 or any use of sounds at all, so whether it is a known issue
or not, through my experience "Issues that can cause errors to some, does
not apply to all." When I heard about the Issues of applying SP2 to XP that
some people had had, I did not. The update went smoothly. Experience is
always good, but common sense is sure a lot better!

I am having the Same Problem. Not able to 'add' sound to my outgoing email
messages in Outlook.
I have it configured correctly, but, as others here have stated, when I
click on web tools/sound, I get the HTMLInlineSoundCtl error message.
I now know that it happens because of installing Microsoft Windows XP
Service Pack 2 (SP2). I know that I have alot of common sense, but,
hopefully this issue will be addressed by Microsoft soon and corrected.

Outlook Express/ no problem adding sound to my emails, but, that's not my
default email program/address and I don't want it to be. So, I'll be patient
and maybe someone here will alert me when the issue is 'fixed'.

Thank, LoisLaneTX
