sounds when new message arrives

Tools/Options/Preferences/Email Options/Advanced When new items arrive sectio
checkbox-Play a sound is checke

my outlook is set to play sound when new message arrives, but it never does. Other sounds in other programs work fine. Any hints

Make sure the sounds also still works in
Control Panel-> Sounds and Audio Devices-> tab Sounds-> New Mail Alert
