source data for pivot table 2007

Debbie Horner

Hi,

I have been working with pivot table for 10 years. I am now in Excel 2007
and I am trying to create a pivot table off of a range of data that has some
query data and a column of data that is accessed through vlookup. No matter
what I do, I can NOT get the addtional column to show up as an available
field for the pivot table. It seems like it is being "too smart"...any
suggestions? This will be a huge problem for us...we often have to
consolidate a lot of data before we roll up.

Thanks

Just a SWAG... See if you can fool the PT into thinking this is not
external data. I would try, instead of placing the query at the default
$A$1, put it at $B$1. Put a dummy label in $A$1, and your VLOOKUP column
to the right of the data as before. Then point the PT at columns
A:whatever.
