SOX Accelerator templates as project document template

Nathan

Hi,
I am very new to Project Server / SharePoint; you help would be greatly
appreciated.

I am attempting to incorporate the document templates that I have
created using the Sarbanes Oxley accelerator for SharePoint into
Project Server in any fashion. One thought has been to make them
available when creating a document library. During this creation
process Project Server specifies that I am to choose a default template
for all new files created in the document library (options are none,
Word, Front Page, Excel, PowerPoint, basic page and web part page). Is
it possible to add the SOX document templates to this list or modify
one of these options to suite?

Any suggestions that have worked for you would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Nathan,

The downside to the document templates implementation of project server is that you only get to apply 1 template to each document folder. So if you have that situation and you only need to use the one template for all your new documents you're in business.

If you're in the above situation try this:

Go to your project workspace and create a new shared documents folder, or select the current shared documents folder if you want to make this change there.

Open the folder and find the link on the left navigation pane that says "modify settings and columns"
Once you're in the page that allows you to change the folder settings about a third of the way down the page there's a setting that says "Document Template" and to the right of that is the URL to the template location.

At the end of that URL is a link to edit the template. Click on it and it will open a Word document - unless the default has already been changed. After it opens template.doc just open up to your SOX template at the same time and copy and paste it into the template.doc file. Save template.doc and you should be good to go.

Now everytime someone clicks on the New Document link in that folder it should open up the SOX template.
