SOX: Aging Service Account Passwords

J

Jacobsen, Joshua

Does anyone have some insight into changing passwords for the Project Server
2003 service accounts? We have SOX requirements to change all service
account passwords every 6 months. I have been tasked with "proving out" the
process, but the previous technical lead didn't have a document for this (and
had never done it).

I haven't been able to find appropriate documentation on the Microsoft web
site to draft my own procedure.

You can change the passwords for the domain-based accounts by changing them
through Active Directory. After making these changes, you'll need to run the
PSCOM+ tool, shipped with the system and installed on your server, to record
the password changes in the DCOM identity

You can change the SQL server accounts passwords through Enterprise Manager.
After changing these you must use the Edit Site tool, available for download
from Microsoft, to change the password records in the system registry.
