SP 2a Installation Problem

B

Bob Zapf

After installing SP 2a, the Availability and Utilization Measures do not
appear when we expand "Totals" in the Pivot Table Field List window of
Portfolio Analyzer. How could we get these Measures back into the Field
List? Is there something else we need to know or do to see these Measures?
Has anyone else experienced this? If so how did you fix it?

Bob:

Are you looking at standard or custom measures? Availability is a standard
measure, however utilization isn't.

Thank you Gary - that clarifies what we are seeing. First we did not see
Availability in the Field List, then we saw an error message from a query
attempt to provide utilization in the view worded: "The query could not be
processed: Formula error - cannot find dimension member
("[Measures].[Availability") - in a name binding functionâ€. We suspect the
problem with custom Utilization measure stems from an underlying problem with
the standard Availability measure. It would appear that if we can fix
Availability we will also fix Utilization.

Bob:

The error message specifically references a "dimension" not a measure. Any
idea which dimension? Ostensibly, the error, taken a face value, suggests
something other than [measure].[availability] is the problem, unless it's
not dimensioning properly in the cube build. What dimensions are you
applying in the view?

Also, do you see errors in the server application event log?

Gary:
I was unable to post a screen print here, so I sent a separate email to your
msprojectexperts.com email address with the same subject as this thread that
has a couple of screen prints that more accurately characterize the problem,
and I believe answers the question about what dimensions are applied to the
view. No matter what view we use, Availability does not appear in the Pivot
Table Field List. When we modify a view, or create a new view, Availability
does not appear in the field list.

There was no error coincident with launching PWA and the view that errors,
however the following error appear in the application event log:

Component: PDS
Line: 0
Error Number: 0x238e
Description:
CSecurity.PopulateProjectViewTables3;
-2147467259 : Method '~' of object '~' failed

I sent a screen print of this and another error to your msprojectexperts.com
email address.

It was a problem with customization developed under SP1 that was not
supported under SP2.
