SP2 downloaded BUT NOW word files will not open

Hi,
Can anyone help? I have been using Office 2003 Professional for sometime,
and mainly Word 2003 - with no problems.
Having just downloaded all the recent updates inc SP2, my word folders will
not open using the "open" box. Single word files will open.
To open a word folder I have to use the "right click" & "open" routine to
open the folder and the file in the folder BUT then i get an error warning
saying " the command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open". When
I close the dialog box, the word file then opens - what a waste of time!
Please help!

Hi,

Seems there's a problem with the latest updates. Uninstalling the KB908531
update should fix the problem for now.

Cheers

I discovered the same problem yesterday. However, it happened before I
updated to SP2. I thought updating would fix it. Also, I cannot open
any folder to save a document in it. I can save to the folder that
opens with the "save" or "save as" dialog box, but I cannot open a
folder to save my document in it. I can save and open awkwardly, but
this is only a temporary solution. I hope someone knows what this is
and how to fix it.

It's not the Office update but a Windows update that is causing the problem.
Try uninstalling the KB908531 update.
