SP2 Problem? "Unable to connect to database"

Help!

I installed the SP2 to my server yesterday. Today I get the following when
trying to connect to any project site "Unable to connect to database Check
database connection information......" I looked at the enterprise Manger on
the SQL server and the STS-sps03_1 database is in (single user) mode.

Yesterday I did run the SQL upgrade to the database before applying SP2 to
the project server, but I did not run rhe WSS upgrade as it said if you had
already applied the SPS SP1 you did not need to install this.

Should I have applied this as well?

How do I get out of this mess?

Please help!

Thanks

I forgot to mention the template files are also missing in the site
provisioning settings in the admin section of PWA

Problem solved

I changed the single user mode by right clicking the affected database |
Properties | Options Tab | and cleared the Restrict Access checkbox. That
appeared to do the trick. I first tried to change the setting and I got a
couple of error messages telling me it could only have one user at a time and
it was already in use. It then popped up the properties screen and I
deselected the restrict access.

The problem has returned! I had to repeat the process all over again.
It appears this will be happening after every backup???

How do I make it stop??

Kevin:

How are you backing up the database? Is the backup completing successfully?

Smiple backups and yes they appear to be backing up fine. I did not change
the way I was making backups after the application of the SP2

I just checked actually accorging to the enterprise manger the two maintence
plans I set up now have red X's on them. I show a *.bak file created for each
day.

I manually started the job and it completed without problems. I do have
SQLSERVERAGENT event 208 codes in the event log on the SQL server.

There is a KB 902355 that appears to be very close to the problem. Should I
try that?

Kevin:

I can't reference the KB you cite.

I can't advise you either way without hands on your system. I'll look for
the other post.

Gary,

I am willing to work with Microsoft to fix this but I only have one technet
incident left and I do not want to use it, given this problem was caused by
the service pack. Should I reapply the SQL update to the database again?
