SP3 and access

Hi

Our main server has just autoupdated bringing in SP3 along with other items.
I have heard (and read in this forum) about the problems with access combo
boxes having the table formating undone but, as non of the combos on any of
our db's has formating in the tables (form formating only) this will not not
affect us BUT is there any other reason why I should "not" allow SP3. (the
delete button is always an option!

If anyone knows any other problem with SP3 I would really appreciate any
feeback. I have googled this and it seems to be mainly combos that are
affected.

Has anyone heard anything else re. access problems with SP3.

Hi Wayne

If you use Visual Source Safe, you probably want to hold off on A2003 SP3,
as it has serious problems.

There is another issue with combos other than the blank display when the
table field has a Format property. Access actually crashes when you assign a
table with more than 31 fields to the RowSource of a combo. Here's a demo:

If those issues don't apply, I don't see a valid reason for holding out on
SP3. Some of my clients are using it, and have not reported any issues with
the databases I've written.

This one is pretty serious if you are hitting SQL Server. "After you
install Office 2003 SP3, you encounter various problems in an Access
project when you work with a Bit data type column in a linked SQL
Server table" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943967

I have a serious issue with my Access ADP that is connected to a SQL 2k backend after upgrading to SP3.

A subform that uses a view to insert new records isn't allowing new records to be inserted. I can modify any existing records but I get the following error or it just won't let me type in the field.

"Microsoft Office Access can't find the object 'SHAPE(SHAPE RS_1694 AS reLevel0 COMPUTE rsLevel0, Sum(rsLevel0.[record]) AS C0) AS RS_1791." It then goes on to say "You tried to open a linked table, but the file containing the table isn't on the path you specified."

The only change made was the update to SP3. Testing the database on a machine that is still SP2 the form works perfectly. This has seriously broken my database and we were forced to roll back to SP2.
