SP3 and Office Scan Feature RUNNING AGAIN!!!

I posted here over a week ago after installing SP3 and that the Office 2003
document scanning function crashng, but I never received a response.

Since I rely on that feature so much and my HP scan with my printer was so
slow & buggy I took the leap and had to uninstall my version of Office Small
Biz 2003 completely and re-install it. Of course SP3 came up as another
"critical update" which I ignored but updated everything else windows update
suggested AND am happy to report my scanning feature in my Office Small Biz
is operational. It only took me almost 2 weeks of posting and waiting before
my PC repair shop made the suggestion. Guess I should have checked with them
in the first place.

It was simple to do, uninstall the program only after locating your product
key number in the cd case or your pc literature. If you DON'T have it, don't
uninstall you'll never get it re-installed without it.
I then shut down, restarted, threw the cd in, typed in the key, and voila!
The windows update site offers to download SP3 but I took no chances and
unchecked it but installed SP2 and all the other updates. I lost nothing and
got my scan document feature back.
That tech at my local shop also mentioned that Microsoft may have done this
on purpose because Office 2007 just happens to be available now but she had
no proof. I now believe her just for the simple reason NOBODY from Microsoft
could bother to respond to my original question 2 weeks or so ago. I think
its too bad Microsoft has to play this way, its only pushing me further away
from their products after years of paying for them. Shame on you Microsoft
and the games you play with things we have become so dependant upon in our
daily lives. Maybe you'll only learn after your market share drops.

Hi, cb,

This is a peer support forum and is not usually staffed by Microsoft
employees. Had you contacted Microsoft for direct support, you may have had
a similar success. I'm guessing your local PC store charged you, where
Microsoft may not have, as I understand they provide free technical support
for security patches.

That said, I'm glad you found a solution AND that you posted it here where
it might help others in similar situation. There are problems with the SP3
patch, so any help that the community can provide is great.

Thank you, however I did contact MS via email and did not get a response from
them, therefore the reason for the sour feeling.
