SP3 install not requiring original source

Tom

Has anyone had any luck in applying SP3 where it does not ask for the original source? I tried the MSIEXE /P Mainsp3.msp as discussed in the Support WebCast but it still asked for 3 .CHM files from the source and when it was done it damaged the entire office install requiring reinstallation from the original source.

Hi Tom,
You have to either have the original installation CD's or you have to delete the existing installation key from the registry.

1. Click "start" => click "run" => enter "regedit" (no quotes) => click "OK"
2. Browse to the following entry and right click to delete it from your computer:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\904010001E872D116BF00006799C897E
3. Restart computer to let the changes take effect.
4. Then please check if you can install the update correctly or not.

If the above key does not exist then look at the other Installer\Products Keys to see if they match up your product name.

Please try the suggestions above and let me know how it goes.
