SP3 Unsuccessful Installation Error

According to a Microsoft tech, SP3 installs successfully
even though the error message says it failed. The
residual problem is that all of the other MS updates won't
install until the OS "tells them" that SP3 has been
installed. Has anyone figured out a work-around for
this? (Microsoft has not, as of this morning (9/04/03).

I have similar problem posted 0800to 0900 hrs on 6th
September. Have you had an answer?

Where is Microsoft on this? There seem to be many
irritated customers with similar problems.

I downloaded the service pack from here:

ds/details.aspx?FamilyID=5C011C70-47D0-4306-9FA4-

which is the office products download site navigated to
the english language version of SP3, and did the download
from there. Clicking the .exe file then worked to install
the service pack, and my next visit to office update went
fine.

Good luck.
