SP3 update for Office XP trouble

Installed SP3 for Office XP on my computer, before I rolled it out. Thank
goodness. It bombed, giving me a pro.msi file not found error. Now Office
won't work and I have to insert the CD and go through 3 pages of instructions
sent from tech support at Microsoft.

They are sorely mistaken if they think I am going to repeat this process for
the hundreds of other machines in our district.

My advice - don't install SP3 for Office until they get the bugs worked out.

Don't they check these things before they roll these out.

Thankly, it is not on the automatic upgade list yet. Yet.

Any advice?

Considering that SP3 for Office XP is about three years old.. I think
they've worked out all of the bugs they're gonna work out.

However, I can say that, after several dozens of installations of Office XP
SP3 over the past three years, you /will/ need to provide the installation
media at every workstation in order to install the service pack. I do not
know of any way around this requirement.

For the installations I did, I put the service pack on a network share, and
carried the media with me. Had I been a bit smarter, I would have also put
the installation image on a network share, and pointed the clients to the
network share of the installation image when I was prompted for the
installation media.
