SP3-Where can I find it?

Gillian

Hi,
I've downloaded Office xp SP3 from the windows update site, but it won't
install.
I wonder if anyone knows where the file is downloaded to by default, so that
I can find it and delete it.
I keep getting nagged to install - but it won't -and I'd rather just forget
it for now, and attempt it when I have more time.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Gillian,

Depending on what source you used to obtain the update (I'm assuming you used either "Officeupdate" or "Microsoft Update" as
"Windows Update" doesn't include the Office ones <g>) you may want to check for and rename or delete this folder

C:\Program Files\OfficeUpdate11

or try the other troubleshooting steps in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304498
for installing your Office updates.

Dear Bob,
Thank you so much for your reply. You're right, I did download the update
from the Microsoft Update site. I deleted the folder Office Update 11, but
it still keeps asking me to install the update. I did notice that the folder
was only a few Mbs, but if i use custom install (I've tried both ways) it
says the file is 52.3mb, which is much larger than what the folder contained.
I have tried searching for the file using the search facility, (I found the
names on the Office website) but I can't find any of the files named on the
site.

I wonder if you know if the name of the file downloaded from Microsoft
Update is different from the name of the update on the Office website.
Many thanks again - and hopefully in advance
Gillian
