While attempting to upload office sp3, I received a request to load
wordret.msi, which I could not find on my Office XP Pro disks. It asked me
to insert ms word 2002 disk, which I do not have. Are there any alternatives?

Hi Chet,

Do you have MS Works Suite? That would be a source of
the Word2002 CD (check in Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows control panel to see if you have a separate
Word 2002 listing. If so, you may want to uninstall
it then use the Microsoft Office XP setup to change
the feature set to use its copy of Word 2002.
