Spacing in labels during Mail Merge

I am teaching a class using Mail Merge and labels in lab computers (3
across/10 down) are leaving too much space between lines so they don't even
fit on the labels. You can correct them individually using R mouse/paragraph
which corrects each one individually or on the Ribbon so it corrects that
file. I want to change defaults somewhere so the spacing is single-space with
0 space between lines.
Is there a way to do this?
PS: My home computer doesn't have this problem..

By default, labels use the Normal Style, so every time you open a new blank
label, the cells are all set to use Normal. You can change normal style or
forget the crappy Envelopes and Labels wizard and create your own blank
templates for the envelopes and labels that you regularly use. I use mostly
L7160 labels, so I have an L7160 template and it uses its own style that I
also called L7160: it uses a different font, different line spacing and
character spacing, different indents and each cell is centred vertically.
I've done the same for DL, C5 and A4 envelopes too.

Thanks for the reply. I will experiment. Kinda sad that we have to work
around the program.
