Spacing Issues...help needed ASAP

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I have a Microsoft Word document that is single spaced. When I change the spacing to 1.5 or double spaced, the 2nd page of the document only has one paragraph on it and the rest of the text is changed to the 3rd page. It was suggested that I change the paragraph settings or my preferences and I don't know what to do. Please help!

Sorry, but you need to be more specific & thorough in your description of
the issue. When you increase line spacing it's to be expected that the text
reflow and extend further thereby causing the document to become longer. So
far you haven't really disclosed anything that suggests a problem - it isn't
even unusual for a single paragraph to span multiple pages if the lines are
more than single spaced.
