Spam sent to me by me

I'm getting a lot of spam with my own email address as the sender.
Therefore, I added my own email address to my Blocked Sender's List.

Unfortuntely, Outlook ignores this setting for some messages. Each day, I
still receive several spams from myself.

How does this happen? Is there any practical way to deal with the issue?

Thanks.

Sounds like you may have an email virus.

Why do you say that? Please be specific.

The symptoms you described are similar to email worms. They email themselves
out to people in your contacts and sometimes even change who it says they are
from when they do this. The fact that you're spamming yourself is along the
same lines.

Teri,

First, I've never caught a virus. I never open attachments that I don't
expect. I run a full scan weekly.

Second, it's common for spammers to spoof a variety of legitimate addresses,
including the recipient's address. In the past two years I've received
hundreds of spams from many different sources, all supposedly sent by
myself. (I receive more than 300 spams per day. So that's a small percentage
of the total.)

What's unusual about this spammer is that I can't block the messages.

So how do I block them?

Charley
