Spanish - Language - Illegal Operation

When creating new document in Word2000 (w/Office 98)we try
to use Tools-Language-Set Language-Spanish(Mexico)we
get "WINWORD performed an illegal operation -
Details:WINDOWRD caused an invalid page fault in module
<unknown> at 000:2a3b2a61". Word shuts down. This is
after having done latest Windows and Office updates over
the summer to all of our networked PC's.
