speaking of wishes

I wish that OneNote was offered/bundled in with the business/enterprise packages. I want it at the office!

Our corp is rolling out the Office 2007 suite to all users (@600 plus people) by the end of this month. OneNote will not be available because it would be a separate license.

And yes, I AM pushing it whenever I get the chance.

AFAICS hardly a thing to be influenced by posting in this newsgroup.
It seems to be a marketing policies decision made by the MS powers in
charge.
I have no idea on how to reach those people :-(

Really good to hear that.
It's not to easy help in getting OneNote as widely known as would be
necessary :-(

OneNote 2007 (along with Groove 2007) is available as part of the
Enterprise SKU. More info at

(as an aside, what's with the urls? why can't it be
microsoft.com/en-us/suites/enterprise.aspx, instead of <random stuff>.aspx?)

True Josh.

Having used ON before I ever had a Tablet, it definitely was an excellent
application, but the Tablet just... gives it wings.

I'm sorry, Anty.
It seems that my reply got fully misunderstood :-( :-(

I did not at all want to say that it was wrong to post your wish in
here!
It was just meant as expressing the feeling of being helpless as far as
the MS marketing policies are concerned.

As Ben already some of the folks of the ON developers team are
participating in here (so in this case Ilya Koulchin).

Rainald-

Please accept MY apologies. I was quick to let my cranky mood and bad day
influence my reply. I'm usually such a mild mannered and delightful old
soul-sweet, you may even say. <g>

Now, I'll go back and try doing more reading and put a lid on posting
impulsively.

And my Lenovo x60 Tablet is the best LAPTOP I've ever owned, not to mention
it is also a Tablet.

Sorry, Anty, I do not see any reason for any apologies from your side.
IMO You were 100% correct.

I've never had any exposure to tablets.
My impression is that tablets could not take the place
of laptops-would that be correct?

I take the liberty to disagree.
Actually most TabletPCs are notebooks/laptops (well, except UMPCs).

For all of my personal work I've been working with portable computers
since the legendary COMPAQ Portable II back in 1987.
And since last year my portable device is a TabletPC which fully
replaced my previous laptop.
I'm missing nothing compared to its predecessor(s).

such a very small bump in the path of life....<s>

I do have some good news, I hope-I emailed my supervisor re OneNote and he
has passed the request/inquiry on to IT and other PTB's. The word has
filtered back down to me that the company WILL have access to this app when
the enterprise licensing renews later this year. However, OneNote is low on
the list of priorities to 'evaluate' for implementation until later in 2008,
"along with Groove and other apps".

The question was raised as to if OneNote had a business application...<s> I
have also targeted a few people (dept heads) known for note taking and
attending numerous meetings, with a frank lobby effort to at least look at
the demo. Also suggested that a few laptop users be allowed to install
locally and 'test' in the interim. I think that the door is cracked open, at
least.
