Special character "&" converted to "&"

I have a text box on my form. When I enter the special character "&" in the
text box and then submit the form. The "&" character is saved as "&" in
the database. Similarly while opening any "&" character is converted to
"&" while displaying. I do not want to convert the "&" character. Any
ideas ?

I do not find a clear cut solution here. Do I have to replace all the
occurrences of "&"character with "&" character. And if yes then how can i do
that ? Do I I have to change/replace the node or can i change the text in the
xml node ?

I cannot replace this character because in my code it still shows as "&"
character but i do not know why it displays "&" and sometimes "&"in
Infopath form
