Special characters converting incorrectly

I have been creating text in Word 2004, then copying and pasting the
text into my Cold Fusion based website. When I do this, the ellipsis
(...) turns into an aspersand (&), and single and double quotes turn
into little squares. I have tried saving the document as text only
first, then copying and pasting. I have also tried copying the document
to TextEdit, saving, then copying and pasting. Neither of these
workarounds have any effect. Does anyone have any good ideas? Please
let me know if I need to provide more info. Thank you!

I copy and paste into Dreamweaver files with encoding UTF-8 with no problems
with these symbols, just by the way. Haven't a clue how Cold Fusion works,
though, but since both Macromedia products, maybe that's relevant.

If you don't want to save out of Word as HTML cause of the cleanup issue,
turning off AutoCorrect so that Word does not replace 3 periods with an
ellipsis and create smart quotation marks would probably help, as then there
shouldn't be any symbols that require Unicode.
