special symbol for H2O

I am writing an essay on "water" and need the '2' in H2O to drop down and
become smaller, I have spent about 30 minutes checking every symbol and
special character, but still cannot find it, someone please help before I
lose my mind!

Select the 2 with your mouse

Go to Format --> Font

Click the box that says Subscript.
